Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Capitol Hill Cluster School is a Washington, DC public school serving 1100 children from age 3 though 8th grade. Set on three campuses on historic Capitol Hill, the Cluster School provides a cohesive educational philosophy that strongly emphasizes literacy, independent thinking, and a love for learning. Academic programs range from "traditional" to Reggio Emilia to Montessori, and all of the classrooms use the responsive classroom technique, which promotes learning environments where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. All three of our campus libraries were renovated in 2006 and 2007 through the School Libraries Project, featuring custom-built reading and research areas, state-of-the-art computer facilities, and several thousand new books.

Children entering the Cluster School start either in Montessori on the Watkins campus at age 3 or in pre-kindergarten on the Peabody campus at age 3 or 4. The Montessori program goes through 4th grade, and children from Peabody move on to the Watkins campus for 1st through 4th grades. The Stuart-Hobson campus, Moddle School, serves 5th through 8th grades.
