Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Capitol Hill Cluster School is a Washington, DC public school serving 1100 children from age 3 through 8th grade. Located across three campuses on historic Capitol Hill, the Cluster School provides a cohesive educational philosophy that strongly emphasizes literacy, independent thinking, and a love for learning. All of the classrooms use the responsive classroom technique, which promotes learning environments where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Children entering the Cluster School start at the Peabody campus at age 3 or 4, then move on to the Watkins campus for 1st through 5th grades. The Stuart-Hobson campus, Middle School, serves 5th through 8th grades.
Our educational programs and campus facilities are supported in vital ways by funds raised through community fundraising events and grants, including recent renovations of all three of our campus libraries, design of our new Watkins playground and outdoor (edible) classroom spaces, and upcoming completion of the Watkins Food Lab teaching kitchen. Your support of the Renovator's House Tour supports innovative efforts like these every year!
